TALENT searches run by Lancashire Cricket Board, Lancashire County Cricket Club and the Lancashire County Cricket Club Foundation are taking place in East Lancashire to find young players.

As part of the Lancashire Way project, players from the South Asian community are invited to trial for the Lord’s Taverners City Cup squads.

Trials take place at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, West Park Road, Blackburn from 9am to 11am on Sunday, March 29 and from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, April 8, and then at Spirit of Sport, in Ormerod Road, Burnley, from 12pm to 2pm on Sunday, April 12, and 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, April 16.

Burnley’s Qasim Ali, lead coach at the indoor school at Old Trafford, said: “We have had great participation levels and success over the last two years with the Talent Search programmes.

“We know there are many talented young cricketers from an Asian background in the region who are not on our player pathway.

“We are delighted that we are now able to widen this search throughout Lancashire in the hope of discovering more talented cricketers.”
